Shazma & Petr celebrated their Pakistani-Czech destination wedding at the Mandarin Oriental Prague with guests from 23 different countries. Alchemy Events planned and designed their Prague celebration, bringing together Pakistani and Czech traditions for an intimate multicultural wedding.
Shazma & Petr had already celebrated their Nikah in Pakistan, but unfortunately, due to an issue with the officiant, at the last minute I had to step in to help officiate their Prague ceremony—something that was a first for me in 26 years of events! Luckily, their marriage was already legal. I wrote the ceremony for the groom’s godmother and me to perform together, with me speaking in English and her in Czech.
The frigid weather prevented us from holding their ceremony in the garden at the Mandarin Oriental so we moved it indoors and provided champagne & non-alcoholic bubbly along with passed hors d’oeuvres for guests while they waited for the ceremony to begin.
During dinner guests were treated to a live performance by the singer Noanne before Vaz DJ’s took over for the evening. Shazma & Petr followed Czech tradition by feeding one another soup as part of their wedding dinner. Later in the evening Shazma did a fun version of the bouquet toss by tying ribbons to it and cutting them one by one as the ladies danced around her. The last ribbon left was the woman who received her bouquet.
