Shazma & Petr

Shazma & Petr had a nikah in Pakistan and then went home to Prague to celebrate with guests from 23 different countries.  Unfortunately, due to an issue with the officiant, at the last minute I had to step in to help officiate, something that was a first for me in 25 years of events.  Luckily their marriage was already legal!  I wrote the ceremony for the groom’s godmother and I to perform together, me in English & her in Czech.  The frigid weather prevented us from holding their ceremony in the garden at the Mandarin Oriental so we moved it indoors and provided champagne & non-alcoholic bubbly along with passed hors d’oeuvres for guests while they waited for the ceremony to begin.

During dinner guests were treated to a live performance by the singer Noanne before Vaz DJ’s took over for the evening.  Shazma & Petr followed Czech tradition by feeding one another soup as part of their wedding dinner.  Later in the evening Shazma did a fun version of the bouquet toss by tying ribbons to it and cutting them one by one as the ladies danced around her.  The last ribbon left was the woman who received her bouquet.
