Nick & Grace met at the Tabasco shop in Jackson Square & wanted to blend their love of New Orleans with his Assyrian & her Latin roots. They decided on a wedding at their home which is a recently converted double shotgun painted in a bright color- VERY New Orleans! Of course, weddings at locations not set up for events often involve generators, tents, renting furniture & other items, considering if the restrooms are sufficient or if trailers need to be brought in, parking, etc. and Nick & Grace were aware that having a professional on board would help take that stress off their shoulders.
They wanted to work in the new fountain and pergola in their backyard as well as some of the street art around the area that they love, including a beautiful bee mural that the bride painted on the fence at her parent’s home right around the corner from their house. Their first date was at St. Roch Market where they ate at Fete au Fete so they knew they wanted to have them cater their reception as well.
We paired burgundy with bright, bold colors, modern clear ghost chairs & lounge seating areas inside & out. A big feature inside the home was the cake room which had a 12×14 ft wall covered in climbing greens behind the wedding cake which was served on mismatched vintage china. Nick & Grace both have a major sweet tooth so the desserts were a big decision in their planning process & they finally found the fudgy wedding cake of their dreams with Sucre with decadent donuts by District Donuts including some with a champagne filling!
The newest addition to their family, their pup Winnie, lounged around the house & helped us set up all day & then switched into flower girl mode for the ceremony & even partied the night away with us as guests sipped on specialty cocktails & frozen margaritas by Cocktail+Creative. (No comment on how much human food was probably slipped to her that night by guests! LOL)
One of my favorite parts of their wedding was incorporating Assyrian traditions such as the family of the groom going to the home to escort the bride to the wedding while waving yalekhta beaded hankies. We used the yalekhta as 2nd line hankies as well and then later in the night, they made an appearance again as guests partied to both Assyrian and Latin music provided by Vivaz Band. Make sure to watch their sweet video but have your tissue handy because Dr. Alonzo Campbell’s ceremony is sure to make you tear up!
